Shahrukh Khan Hits Rs 40 crore jackpot with Ra.One satellite rights

Shahrukh Khan’s upcoming film Ra.One has broken all records by selling off the satellite rights for an astronomical amount of Rs 40 crore.

This is the highest ever figure for any Bollywood film till now. Last year, Aamir Khan’s “3Idiots” was snapped up by a channel for whopping Rs 36 crore, and the same channel has struck this deal too.

After a string of not so successful films, Shahrukh has pulled out all stops for his next venture ‘Ra.One’. The film is touted to be one of the most expensive films in Bollywood. This sci-fi thriller promises to have never-seen-before special effects in Bollywood. Some of the best talents from Hollywood have been hired for the film to make it a technically big film in Indian film history. Kareena Kapoor is the lead actress opposite SRK in Ra.One.

Even though the release date is still unconfirmed, the news of this deal indicates that the industry is very upbeat about the film’s performance.

The trend of selling satellite rights even before film’s release is not a new one as last year’s film Dabangg, Guzaarish and Tees Maar Khan were also sold to the T.V. channels.
